Green and Digital Demonstration Program (GDDP)

CALL FOR APPLICATIONS

The Vancouver Economic Commission (VEC) now welcomes entrepreneurs to submit applications to participate in the Green and Digital Demonstration Program (GDDP). The GDDP was established to advance the VEC’s green and digital strategies and accelerate the pace of commercialization and job growth in the local economy.

The GDDP will provide participants in the clean technology and digital/ICT sectors a streamlined process for gaining temporary, controlled access to City of Vancouver-owned assets for technology demonstrations and proof-of-concept trials. If a technology is successfully implemented, participants will have a local reference site to leverage for marketing and sales purposes, as well as the City of Vancouver as a reference. This is not a procurement opportunity, or a pathway to procurement with VEC or the City of Vancouver.

Examples of the types of assets and infrastructure that may be leveraged for demonstration purposes include: buildings, fleets, water & waste infrastructure, and street infrastructure.  Furthermore, certain kinds of digital infrastructure may also be available.

INTERESTED IN APPLYING?

The program is now accepting applications, with the current application period ending on October 22nd 2014. The next application intake will be in 2015.

Please review the following evaluation criteria and process in order to determine your suitability for the program:

Your proposal will be assessed using the following criteria:
•    Implementability (e.g. technology readiness and maturity level)
•    Scalability (addressable market size, potential to lead to significant social, environmental,
      and economic impact)

•    Risk (execution risk, ease of implementation)
•    Self-funding (funding in place, absence of cost to the City)

Preference will be given to City of Vancouver-based companies in genuine need of demonstration or proof-of-concept trials, and only a limited number of top-ranked applicants will be approved.

The City will evaluate applications presented to it by the VEC, which is responsible for administering the GDDP intake process.  The City retains complete discretion over its consideration of applications and will determine for itself which projects to pursue, if any.  The VEC is unable to (and does not) make any promises or representations on behalf of the City.

Only applications which are determined to be feasible and legal and pose no significant risks to the City or the public will be permitted to proceed by the City.  Approved applications will only proceed following execution of a legal agreement defining the parameters of the demonstration or trial and including indemnity and insurance requirements in the City’s favour.
